BLOGGER SAMMYKAY IN POLICE GRIP OVER SEXUALLY EXPLICIT MATERIAL PUBLICATION.
Ghanaian blogger famed within the entertainment cycle Samuel Dortey Kumah, CEO for SammyKay Media is said to have encountered legal troubles following his arrest and subsequent handover to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.
The Cyber Security Authority issued a statement on November 16, 2023, outlining the reasons behind Sammy Kay’s detention, citing allegations of publishing sexually explicit material and the unauthorized use of images belonging to the Cyber Security Authority (CSA).
Quoting the statement, “Samuel Dortey Kumah, owner of Sammykaymedia, stands accused of circulating sexually explicit content and misusing images of Cyber Security Authority officials. Consequently, he has been apprehended and transferred to the CID.”
Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, the Cyber Security Authority cautioned against the dissemination of explicit content, clarifying their disassociation from such material and urging the public to disregard any potentially criminal misrepresentation.
The CSA reasserted its commitment to its mission, collaborating with various security agencies to safeguard Ghana’s digital landscape and ensure the digital well-being of its citizens.
Sammy Kay is said to have later removed the image in question on Instagram and issued an apology, expressing regret for the earlier post and acknowledging the mistake in linking the images.
